This is next on the list of things to do when I finish up my 95 Z28, so the story begins.

1992 Mazda Protege DX SOHC 5-speed.  This is the second one I've owned and it was garbage compared to my first one.  After two sessions of burnt valves I parked it and let it sit.

Fast forward to 2011 I take a trade offer on a 93 Z28 I had that I was wanting to get rid of.  Part of that trade offer was a 1.8 DOHC GTX engine swap, transmission, axles, FMIC, charge pipes, wideband, B code VAF, 550cc injectors, eBay t3/t4 .50 trim turbo, custom 2.5" downpipe, GTX ECU, and I'm sure some other misc. things I've forgotten.

This thread will be updated as things progress/change about the car.  This is not a top priority of mine, so don't expect updates that often.

Here are a few random pics I've took and many more will be posted as things move along.

Small and useless update.

I've been talking with a guy from Vancouver that builds MS and PNP harnesses and we are trying to figure out what in the hell the harness is actually for that I have for this engine.

Previous owner ran a MS standalone on his car, but said it killed over on him.

If this turns out to be a MS PNP harness then I'm going to purchase a MS.  If it's stock GTX harness. then I'll just use the VAFC-II I have.

Turned out to be a stock harness, so no Megasquirt.  Or at least not anytime soon.

And just a random shot of the harness pulled out of the cab and laying across the stock SOHC shortblock and trans.

Getting to the ECU on this car was a SOFB and everything the harness plugs into inside the cabin.

Only been 9 months since an update so why not.

I am no wiring specialist and with no way of contacting Josh Perry anymore to find out about this setup, I'm taking shots in the dark.  Yeah there is forums like ClubProtege, but all they do is tell you to use the search button and every question has been asked a million times and guess what?  They're search don't bring up shit.  Even tagging ClubProtege on a google search only makes things worse.  Also noticed most of the people doing the "search" chant have never completed their projects and sold/junked them.

Anywho, I'm unsure of what he has changed around on this harness and what hasn't been.  I'm not even so sure now that I know what the ecu is even for since both stickers have been scratched off.  I don't see any stamped on the external casing.

A lot of the wires look the same from both N/A SOHC harness and the Turbo DOHC Harness, but a couple (literally) is different and one has either been cut or broken.   I know a lot of Mazda vehicles all keep things divorced in the wiring, but I'm not sure what all models follow that concept.  I'm still used to a Toyota where nothing is easy when it comes to wires.

Do I plan or care if this car ever gets done?  No.  If it does get done?  Oh well it's done.  If not?  Nobody cares...especially me lol!

This wire here has me concerned.

Posted Image

I can't find anything online about that specific wire (brown w/ yellow strip).  And I'm not even sure which pinout it's been pulled from.  I'm thinking it's from the far right, bottom corner.

Posted Image

All I find online is that it should be a red wire running from that pinout for + 12v.  Well I don't see a red wire at all.
