Well I went out to the garage a couple times this week. Ripped some more stuff out of the car. Then looked up and realized how much of a wreck I have made the garage during this process...

Posted Image

So I went back the next day and spent time cleaning everything. Hopefully I'll have room to actually work now and not play hopscotch the whole time.

I usually work in cycles. One day the garage is clean and I want to work on the car. I tear into it and make a mess. Then spend a few days not wanting to even be in the garage. Then I spend a day cleaning things and Im ready to work on it all over again. LOL

Worked on the Evo over the last couple of nights.

Got the knuckles loose, and removed the axles. Decided to take a selfie since thats what I did the last time I removed a set of axles on my green lancer.

Posted Image

Then came back last night and removed the oil filter housing, broke loose the center diff, and dropped the whole engine and tranny out the bottom.

Posted Image

I never named[ the Evo. And last night I was making up some hashtags for instagram and took Evo and Ralliart and came up with #EvoRA. So I think the car's name is going to be Evora from now on. LOL

Spend quite a bit of time on the Evo over the weekend.

Posted Image

Picked up the garage, it was a wreck. Removed a power steering line that got crushed during engine removal. Gotta have that remade. Removed the lowering springs from the rear suspension, and installed factory springs.

Posted Image

Then got around to working on the engine. Got the block and head assembled and bolted together. Waiting on some oil lines from MAP and to have my mainfold and oil pan cleaned.

Little bit of progress. Not many pictures. Got the engine timed and covers in place. Discovered that my cams are Tomei 260's. I am going to try using my original valve cover. I like the red again... Still waiting on my oil lines and pickup. Should arrive today according to the tracking number.

Posted Image

Finished up my patch harness. I'll be able to plug this guy into my factory harness and the Haltech Elite 2500 will be able to take control of the car.

Posted Image

Also spent the weekend cleaning up things. I sat inside the engine bay and detailed every nook and crevice I could get my fingers into. Cleaned all the lines and hoses. Went through my engine harness and patched up some messed up spots. Tucked some wires, and rerouted a few things. Cleaned the engine off and gave it a fresh coat of paint. And finally, I painted the centers of my wheels black instead of gunmetal gray.

Im starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel now. Getting really excited to wrap this thing up and have it on the road again.

Not going to lie, the wiring stuff still intimidates me.

Its not that bad if you have proper wiring diagrams and pinouts. You can make a spreadsheet to make quick work of it pretty easily.

Hey guys, sorry for the lack of updates. Let me try to catch up on some stuff here.

I took my volks apart and had them sandblasted and powder coated. I sanded down the wheel barrels and left them brushed looking. They actually turned out a lot better than I expected.

Posted Image

From there I borrowed an engine hoist from work and had Michael and Buzz come over to help me connect the trans and engine and get it mounted in the engine bay.

Posted Image

I finished up connecting everything and filling fluids. And fired it up. She fired up quick and easy. But while I was checking everything I noticed there was an oil leak from somewhere. I got pissed and just let it sit for a week cause I couldn't find where the leak was coming from. But last night I went over to give it another shot. And I found that the leak is coming from behind the manifold where a plug is installed in the head just above the EGR port. So next week I'll be dropping the manifold off of the engine and fixing that problem. Hopefully, I'll have it on the road by next weekend!
